PREFACE Arhat Jinas'- Tirthankar Bhagawan Mahaveer's principles were born out of limitless, purposeless Compassion for Universal welfare and peace. Prime principle of Ahimsa multi-dimensionally imbibed with Atmajnana (Self-knowledge) and Anekantvada-Syadvada (many-sided points of views), the overall integrated vision of Whole Truth and Life, is the only way out to solve all ills, all problems facing the mankind. Bhagawan Mahaveera himself and his Great Heritage-line dedicated followers walking in his footsteps throughout the Ages, practiced Ahimsa and other principles in their actual lives on spiritual level. Mahaveera himself was a majestically Great Warrior of Ahimsa who conquered his inner enemies like hatred and infatuation etc, and acquired Atmajnana-Kevaljnana paving the same path of INNER WAR firstly. Out of several others, Bhagawan Mahaveera's present Age follower Srimad Rajchandra followed the same principle of Ahimsa in his day-to-day religious life on practical and commercial level. He applied Ahimsa and other Jaina Principles and conquering his above-referred inner voices (of infatuation, hatred, ignorance, etc.) he too acquired the light of Atmajnana. Mahatma Gandhi, greatly influenced by Srimad Rajchandra, not only practiced and applied the principle of Ahimsa on his personal level, but also on the National and Global level. His Ahimsa, Ahimsak Satyagraha became successful and instrumental in bringing Indian Independence. He became a uniquely Victorious Warrior of Ahimsa setting an example. He proved that Ahimsa could be applied on internal Spiritual level, as well as on external Practical, Political, Material level too. Thus his contribution to Ahimsa, learnt and acquired from Srimad Rajchandra, the ardent follower of Bhagawan Mahaveera, is an unusual event of modern times. In fact, Srimad Rajchandra and Mahatma Gandhi, both proved that Bhagawan Mahaveera's vast, integrated compassionful Ahimsa could be positively practiced on personal, commercial, political, social, national and Global levels. Gandhi's concept of Ahimsa-based SHANTI SENA proved that Wars could be averted or fought without Weapons. A future Warrior of Ahimsa like him could successfully apply this hatred less Non-violent War against injustices and wrongs of the world successfully. May they be nearby, national Ground Wars, Giobai sky Wars or even forthcoming inter-continental Star Wars! Ahimsa (Non-Violence) should be everywhere with Vijnana (Science) in the Centre. Farsighted Bhagawan Mahaveera's Multi-dimensional integrated Ahimsa has opened several avenues of this peace-providing blessing to humanity through Srimad Rajchandra and Mahatma Gandhi for implementation of Non-violence in day-to-day individual and collective life. Following this a lot of blood-shed and Violence could be washed out from the world. Rabindranath Tagore had rightly and timely described today's Violent World as a Greatly Mad world in one of his wonderful songs HINSHAY UNMATTA PRITHVI (quoted in this play).

(1/3) Co-incidentally, these words by this humble Play-Wright are written in the backdrop and background of currently ongoing American-British War on Iraq on international level (which cannot be justified unless or even it unearths the hidden Weapons of Mass Destruction, without spreading MASS DESPERATION!) and constant Cowardly Warlike Terrorist Attacks on innocent Kashmiris, recently the poor Pundits on Indian National level. Even the Gujarat Violence last year and the like. Have we, the bookish followers of Ahimsa, ever thought of, tried of applying Ahimsa just like Gandhi did, on national and international levels in context of various Wars and Problems facing today's world? If Gandhi could do it in course of his Ahimsak Satyagraha during independence movement why not we? This is the small but useful message this small Play is bringing to us. Why have we not formed and tried a Self-sacrificing Peace Brigade-Army of Peace Soldiers-SHANTI SAINIKS to quell, silence and win the Terrorists? Gandhi, Vinoba, J.P., Ravishankar Maharaj, Martin Luther King and others have tried and done this in the modern times!! Why we are not inspiring others for the same on international level? Why the Peacelovers of the world could not offer such a Non-violent resistance on War-fronts? Why the Anti-War protestors of current war, in place of mere Demonstrations, don't go on actual war-fields and prevent and convince all concerned or die for the cause of Ahimsa? Time has come for Ahimsa lovers to think and do something in this regard, firstly in India against continuous Terrorist Attacks against the innocents!!! If someone is enlightened or moved through this Play, bringing the above message in an imaginative dramatic way, this humble author will be tremendously overwhelmed and feel gratified. That will be his greatest prize, greatest award, and greatest appreciation. May Bhagawan Mahaveer Foundation be instrumental in carrying Bhagawan Mahaveera's Ahimsa across the limited barriers of our religious places like the Upashrayas and Temples, etc. May this great principle of Ahimsa spread across the Seven Seas, across the whole Universe and proclaim Victory and Glory of Bhagawan Mahaveera's preachings and establish the all-uplifting KINGDOM OF COMPASSION: The SARVODAYA TEERTHA! PRATAPKUMAR J. TOLIYA Is it correct to say that the Modern Youths have been side-tracked from the path of truth and Morality? Is it true that there is a large-scale deterioration and downfall amongst them? Is it sure that they require the total change for their all round upliftment and sublimation? To ascertain these facts and to derive any conclusion positively, it is necessary to consider the present-day condition of the modern Youths. If we consciously and minutely look and watch around us-near or far, it would not be difficult to find that the Modern Youths burning the Rises and Railway carriages, killing and harassing their teachers and innocent persons, indulging in drinking and non-vegetarian eating, crossing the limitations of sexual behavior and keeping aside the ideal of self-restraint, wandering aimlessly and antisocially shelving and neglecting all the moral and spiritual values of life and what not, are no/doubtful of unrest and deterioration and they definitely require the total change, the total transformation. WHERE LIES THE FAULT? When the above-mentioned present-day condition of the Modern Youths is a reality then what are the causes of the same? Where lies the root-causes? Where lies the faults? It is an established fact that the Modern Youths are in despair and unrest and they are uprooted from the centre of their life, the self, the soul. This prevailing state of their life's tragic condition requires deep and discriminative analysis. The Jains' way of thinking, present before us the all-sided and total perspective combining all view-point for finding the causes and the conclusion of any problem. This approach, known as the ANKANT or SYADWADA, gives us the right visit and discrimination. The same applied to our prevailing

(4/2) analysis, lead us to the conclusion that the following factors are mainly responsible for the unrest, deterioration and downfall of the Modern Youths: (1) Lack of soul-centered consciousness or self-knowledge. (2) The Time, The Age, The Atmosphere created by a few power-craving, belood-thirsty, moneyminded, materialistic politicians and the so-called "diplomats" of the world. (3) Their own misfortune for having born in such an age and atmosphere. (4) Social Environment based on Materialism, Inequality, Poverty, Injustice and Hypocracy and regardless of Moral or Spiritual values of life. (5) Path-befallen misguided, careless parents and Guardians. (6) Inert, dull, Impotent Education and either soul-consciousnesslacking or underpaid-money lacking teachers and professors who take no interest in their students, neglect them and remain self-centered. (7) The reflection of the cultural, Literary and Entertaining means full of only the Material and bodily outlook: The Books, The Cinemas, The stage-shows, The Radio and Television, "The pollution of Internal Air" created by these all. Let us discuss some of the principal factors mentioned above. First of all, it is most consciously evident that the life of a newly born human being is hardly "soulcreated", it is centered sound only the bodily, materialistic needs. Nearly each and every human being has been uprooted and separated from one's own "soul" or "self". The cravings of an average human being are based only on the mad materialistic race of getting "more and more". Unless one is moulded towards the "soul" the "self" basically, which is the fountain of happiness and achievement within and unless one is convinced of the truth that he himself is the source of ALL so steady and eternal upliftment is possible. Secondly, it cannot be ignored that apart from the above mentioned internal and basic factor, the external and environmental factor also plays a great role in the downfall of the youths. In this factor Universal, Continental, National, Social, Cultural and Educational aspects and atmosphere should be relatively considered. As any human being and especially the youth, the growing human being cannot remain unaffected, unreflected and uninfluenced by the Age and environments, the outward or the external fault lies with the powercurving, blood-thirsty, materialistic politicians of the world who make "all" dance as per their will. They do not spare even the saints or learned men and scientists or Artists. People from all walks of life remain influenced by them. Places of all parts of the earth remain in control of them. When the same and sound "grown ups" cannot take themselves free from the ditches or the influences of these "power and possession minded" politicians, how could the younger growing generation remain unaffected and uninfluenced from the atmosphere created by them all? The wars, either hot or cold, have been fought because of them since the time immortal as the History recalls. Gujarati Port Meghani has rightly said :

(413) (It was because of the power-craving madness of the chieffains that the wars have been fought and the Arms and Ammunitions seen manufactured ....) 1. So far as the present-day wars of the "Planet Age" are concerned, their outcomes are horrifying. When these wars control the mankind's "future" and worsen its "present", the youths are sure to get influenced by these happenings and by the architects of these happenings- the power-craving politicians; the youths will reflect, reach and revolt in various ways. Hence the first external fault of the downfall of the youths lies with the above-said politicians. 2. The second external fault lies with the capitalist-Hoarders who know not to distribute and donate willingly and who invite the envy and discontent of others, especially the youths. 3. The third external fault lies with the parents, who neither gave them birth consciously, spiritually and morally, nor brought them up carefully with a view to make them "Soul Centered" worthy human beings. 4. The fourth external fault lies with the so-called Social Leaders who have no hold over the social environments, who are helplessly poor in will power and who let loose the Goonds-elements to rule over the youths and influence them. The fifth external fault lies with the Educationists, who have not succeeded so far in providing a combined, balanced and spiritually based "Soul-centered" Education to the students from the very beginning. Also the teachers and professors who continuously neglect their students are no less responsible for their deterioration and disrespect 6. The sixth and great external fault lies with the "Modern-Gods" the Cine-Actors and Artists and Dramatists and Musicians, who have hardly cared for the constructive sublimation of the youths and who have only cared for their "money" and "sex", putting aside all of the higher values of life and setting wrong examples of behavior and establishing unworthy unhealthy standards of Art. 7. The seventh and equally responsible external fault lies with the ages, who either totally neglect the youths or handle them without discriminative approach and psychological attitude. And similarly there are other reasons responsible for the downfall of the youths, who themselves are hardly responsible for their disgust, despair, downfall or the deterioration. The youths will be reflected stated entities. The Culture and Literature and means of Entertainment created jointly by them all have spread the unhealthy vicious atmosphere. They are responsible for the "Internal Pollution of Air". We can put forward the argument of "THE YOUTHS SHOULD NOT GET AFFECTED AT ALL BECAUSE OF THE ENVIRONMENTS" only if we are confident of not burning our hand in spite of putting it in fire and also if we have trained the "Vision" and "Capability" of REMAINING ALOOF LIKE A LOTUS IN THE MUD" in the youths. If we have failed to do this, we are only finding excuses and escapes to shirk our responsibilities. Hence, after this analysis, it is highly essential for us to think of the proper and probable plans for their total uplift. WHAT ARE THE REMEDIES?

For the achievement or fulfillment of any Endeavour or work, the following five factors are required to be taken into account as per the Jain Philosophy: - (1) Time( ): KALA (2) Nature or Will : SWABHAV (3) Efforts ) : PURUSHARTHA (4) Fore-deeds! : POORVA-KARMA (5) Destiny ( ) : NIYATI While thinking of the remedies of upliftment of the youths. Also we have to consider all of the above factors and make their use wisely and discriminatively. So far as the factor of the TIME is concerned, we have not to worry of the Time prevailing before us. Whether or not it may be ripe rightness EFFORTS as Srimad Rajchandra has rightly said :"THE ATMA-SIDDHI SHASTRA". "THE ATMA-SIDDHI SHASTRA" The importance of "THE ATMA-SIDDHI SHASTRA" is quite evident here which cannot be ignored. Along with this factor, the factor of NATURE or WILL or WILL POWER is to be put into practice, which leads the efforts. Then comes the FORE-DEEDS, which although we do not fore-see usually, but we can get rid of them by penance and by their "acceptance with understanding". If they come in our way, we have to take them as our tests and surpass them. In the end comes the factor of the "DESTINY" which is not our concern to bother, we have only to consider it along with other factors and to proceed further firmly and consciously in the direction of finding and applying the remedies. Where are the remedies? As the causes or reasons are many-sided, the remedies also will be. Let us consider them one by one. (5) To train and transform and re-orient the "ELDERS", especially the TEACHERS and PROFESSORS, PARENTS and GUARDIANS, so that they can mould, educate or produce the "right youths" in the "right way". B. PARTICULAR REMEDIES PERTAINING TO THE PRESENT-DAY YOUTHS AND THE PLANS FOR THEIR TOTAL UPLIFTMENT: - These remedies and plans will consist of chiefly the following two means: - (1) Formation of a "TRANSFORMATIVE YOUTH FORCE" for TOTAL TRANSFORMATION of the younger generation Internal as well as External "Internal Transformation of the Being and External Eradication of the Social Evils" will be its jurisdiction and motto. After having their internal transformation to a certain extent, the youths of this force will aim at the external revolution and eradication of the social and universal evils from their roots. They will get together in form of manifold "Camps" for the first process of internal transformation through various multi-bious practices and they will create an atmosphere and launch a movement for the second process of external revolution and eradication of the social and universal eviis. Means of entertainment, especially the Cinemas and the Radios and the Television will

(415 be compelled to change from the origin and will be expected to produce or put forth only the healthy, really aesthetic and artistic and life-sublimating entertainments. This will be done through the constant and conscious efforts of creating and changing the public opinion and outlook and also through the production and presentation of alternative programmes. (2) Setting up of a totally free and novel Educational system based on the self the soul, the spirit. Though soul-centered, it will balance and combine both of the internal as well as the external-spiritual as well as material aspects. It will combine Religion or self-knowledge with the Modern Science, enabling one to make the "right use" of the Science. It will provide a balanced and totally developing process of learning. To mention in particular, it will take into consideration all the aspects and factors for the total, all round development of the younger generation as mentioned before. It will function in form of..... NEWLY-SET REGULARLY WORKING INSTITUTIONS AND VIDYAPEETHS. PREVAILING EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS WITH ADDED PROCESS OF INTERNAL OR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION AND TRAINING * PART-TIME, EVENING OR SUNDAY CLASSES FOR THE EMPLOYED ONES. * WEEKEND SUMMER CAMPS OR "SHIVIRI" -And it will take into account all of the aspects referred to above Viz 1) The Soul 2) The mind, Heart and intellect 3) The body and 4) The Means of Livelihood or Economic requirements. Let us think over the process of utilizing and training and transforming all of these aspects for making the novel education a chief means for the total uplift of the Modern Youths : (1) The Soul: - All Practice will be adopted for enlightening the "RIGHT VISION" and for implanting the seeds of the self-knowledge or the Realization of the Soul. The younger generation will be educated and trained and brought up through the imparting of knowledge by awakening their "thirst of knowing". They will be shown the path and process of internal transformation through Meditation first, then through the TAPASADHANA and concentration and then through studies, discussions and discourses of spiritual knowledge. In course of this Yogic PRACTICES PSYCHOLOGICAL APPROACH, WILL-POWER and MUSIC will be used altogether, so that they all can help in the process of self awakening. As a result of this, the unity of thought, speech and action will be achieved and importance of spiritual and moral values will be strengthened naturally among the students and youth. Through the Meditation, they will be inspired and enabled to achieve INTERNAL SILENCE as well as the RIGHT VISION, the PROPER OUTLOOK which will enable them to stick to their goal of self-realization without escaping from the world of today though it may be in opposite direction. This ability will not deprive them of the Moral and spiritual code of conduct and thinking. They will easily and naturally learn to adopt and respect the

(416) purity, chastity, dietary control and the "Do's and "Don't"s of conduct of the "right religion" which they will be enabled to decide with their discriminative intellect and faith as we shall see further. (2) The Mind, Heart and Intellect: All after the aspect of the soul, we have to think for the mental and intellectual aspects, which are to be channelized properly and to be used as a great force. For the proper growth and development of the Mind, Heart and the Head or intellect, the youths will be handled first of all with LOVE and sense of RESPECT and APPRECIATION. Then they will be provided education in externally "natural" atmosphere as well as internally natural, free, frank and open-minded state. They will be taught to be free and frank and fearless in their thinking and expression when they will reach up to a certain stage of "internal silence" and "right discriminative vision" as referred to above. This will enable their studies and bookish learning to develop and to make intellectual wonders. Their studies will have a great place for the BIOGRAPHIES of the great people, which will remind and inspire them to a great extent to make their own lives sublime. They will be trained to make use of MUSIC (either "performing" or "listening") as a great force of internal enfoldment, ego-eradication, self-awakening and meditation, apart from its being a means of "Devotion" or "Social Revolution". So far as various subjects and facilities of learning are concerned, the students will be allowed and inspired to make right selection of the subjects according to them interests and abilities. There will be special programmes and camps where the youths will be tested and put amongst certain "problems", in spite of allowing them "to create new problems and make destructions". They will be expected to solve the unforeseen problems jointly and individually. The energy, originality, inner power and the insight created from this process will help the society and nation at large. The sound and silent mind, the generous and open heart and sharp discriminative intellect thus developed, will enable the youths to make right judgment and decision and to face and react to the happenings of life boldly. 1413 Such and similar several revelations need our conscious thinking and attention when we are sunk in a side tracked moral life on one hand, seatterred in frenzy & crazy fragments of " " on the other and in the inert rites and rituals on the third: BHAGAWAN MAHAVIRA'S INDICATION. In fact, our present day state of affair of various above mentioned nature, was already indicated by SARVAINYA BHAGAWAN MAHAVIRA WELL in advance, 2500 years age: Our deterioration and fragmentation was particularly mentioned by the Lord on several occasions during his life and preachings, scripture & historical evidences stand a testimony about our own seattering divisions, fragmentations and infights amongst our own selves, the followers of ANEKANTAVADA philosophy & AHIMSA practice: It was more than once calrified by Bhagawan Mahavira that NO OUTSIDE FORCE WILL EVER BE ABLE TO BREAK THE IRON BARS OF THE PRINCIPLES OF ANEKANTAVADA & JAINISM, BUT ITS OWN INNER DIFFERENCES WILL BRING ITS DOOM: On another occasion he has said "NO ONE ELSE WILL BE CAPABLE TO DEFEAT THE LION OF JINMATA' BUT IT WILL BE WOUNDED OF ITS OWN INNER CAUSE, and ITS OWN DIFFERENCES: And how perfectly & shamefully, ironically & tragically with without helpless own eyes our present day in-fightings of SHWETAMBARAS & DIGAMBARAS - just as if we are very "loyally" proving our Lord's utterances: Really, very 'loyal' we are to our Lord: May we have had been this loyalty in several other right, respects, accepting and HOW, WHY & WHERE WE MISSED/LACKED THAT GREAT HERITAGE OF THE ARIHANTAS? Due to the Age & pride of several following Acharyas, due to the inertness, due to lack of farsightedness, due to infighting, due to absence of real spirit & vision of Meditation and above all due to loss of faith, discrimination in following the Lords, Arihantas' orders - we have missed our Great Heritage, our Great glory, our Right place in this country and elsewhere: As a result, we have suffered at many many places on many many fronts and have since many many years: In several ways we have been behaving culturally, socially, politically, educationally. I went to Nalanda ... the ruins of the Buddhist Vishwavidyalaya over there reminded that "See the irony of you the Jainas: The place where Bhagawan Mahavira had 14 Chaturmas and where Bhagawan Buddha had not even stayed overnight, had the Buddhist Vishwavidyalaya and not that of the Balancing synthesizing Jain philosophy: And I was reminded of my great Master Pragyachaksha Dr.Pt. Sukhlaji's long-study based observation that "in last 2500 years' History, the Jains had No Vishwa Vidyalaya at all Nalanda or Takshashila:" And I went deep in thinking about the reasons, the causes of the same the Infightings ... the devaluation of knowledge and so on and so forth: This was on Educational front. This self-centeredness of Ego does not allow one to be open and broad-minded enough to see, consider and accept other side of the aspect, the opposite point of view and the TRUTH in it. That's why while going deep into the study and analysis of Violence, the Ancient, original and independent Philosophy of Jainism in the evolvement of Indian spiritual progress, has seen and stressed the utmost importance of "SYADAWADA" or "ANEKANTAWADA" for getting rid of VIOLENCE of all kinds. The Great Modern Gandhian Thinker & Interpreter of BHAGAVAD GEETA, Acharya Vinoba Bhave has given glaring tribute to Jain Philosophy for its unique contribution of "SYADAWADA"- the understanding and accepting of others' points of view in the fulfillment and achievement of AHIMSA- "NONVIOLENCE". But one's Ego does not allow the openness and flexibility of seeing the truth in relativity and in its all sided integrated total form. And hence the outcome, gradual outcome, of Ego - whether Individual or Collective will be nothing but violence and wars. Hence in my humble opinion EGO is the greatest hurdle in World Peace and solution of the problems of Mankind. Several learned speakers and studious thinkers will have their own expressions and revelations about the problems facing the humanity. While mine is an humble simple exposition and vision. A vision with reason-internal & external - both having two sides of the same TRUTH. As such, is not the manifestation of EGO the foremost problem facing the Humanity-resulting in Violence, wars and weapons from simple one to the destroyer Nuclears? Ego is one or several human beings - either in Individual or National form has its far-reaching impacts in the world nearby and far. So it will be quite clear to accept that EGO is the nerve centre of all the problems facing the mankind in first instance. Subtle are the ways and difficult are the expressions of EGO, which remains hidden under the masks of various ideologies which think themselves to be superb superior or supreme and others to be wrong or discardable. They can't see or tolerate the co-existence of other side's ideology. Inspite of an individual's or nation's Ego, one neither realizes the same nor has the courage, honesty or sincerity to rise above one's narrow "individual" or so called "patriotic, national" world in the interest of the whole humanity to accept the reality and integrated totality. The moment one observes, honestly observes and realizes the unprecented existence of the undercurrent of Ego and its various products, the process of its melting, eradicating or transformation takes place consciously or unconsciously and the welfare of the whole world comes in the forefront and that of one's own next. The consideration and compassion for others take place and the process of eradication of violence & wars, takes shape through various means. But mad fanaticism of one's self superiority complex or fear complex does not allow one to come to this stage of the transformation of Ego and Realization of Total truth. Unless this transformation has taken place and unless an individual or a nation realizes this all of his/its so called contributions & tremendous constructions in the world are going to be just like a flop. May they be in whatever fields - they are going to result into multiplication of problems of the earth and ultimately to bring the destruction. Hence, the gravest problem facing the Humanity is EGO, the Birthplace of VIOLENCE, and WARS & WEAPONS - EGO of persons & people of Race & Nation, of Kings & Politicians. Will any one realize that the Collective or Individual Egoes of the balanced sound rulers, the Kings, the Politicians are the root cause of the Wars & disasters & various problems facing the Humanity? If one's reasoning does not allow him to accept this, the record of the History of the wars of the world should be an eye-opener of course again, of one is 'OPEN' enough to accept. History clearly provides a lot of Evidence that majority of the Wars - leaving the exceptions - were due to the Egoes & self centeredness of four-five Rulers or Politicians dragging the whole innocent mankind to the doom as an Indian Seer Philosopher & Poet has very rightly expressed in this factual couplet (poems). "Many a tremendous wars were fought because of egos of a few victory-craving chieffains & woman!" (Zaverehanal Meghar YUG-VANDANA) Same truth has been expressed by another poet "Dinkar" in another language (Hindi). "Wars only for satisfying the Egoes and prides of Kings and increasing their proudness" (RASHMI RATIH) in short these Egoes of the Rulers & Politicians have produced & continued violence and wars since the time immemorial.

Is there any end to it? If not, it is crystal clear to everyone that the present stature of SPACE WARS & NUCLEAR WEAPONS are bound to bring disasters of the humanity to union extent. Is it not Ego Self Consciousness and selfishness to think of the destroyal of other countries and survive of ours? While the Hindu thought, Jain Philosophers and Indian culture advocates Egolessness, Sacrifice, Service, Co-existence, Universal Love, Welfare of all taking the whole world as one family through the ideal of LIVE & LET LIVE: This ancient Indian culture was interpreted by Guru R. Tagore in modern terms, which he himself had put into practice at SANTINIKETAN translating into action his of (the whole). World will stay here in one 'Nest'. He invited the whole world and its different culture in its fold in its nest, as Indi& races - . "At the seashore of this pious pilgrimage place at India's great people....." ("GEET-PANCHASHATI') India the preceptor-preacher & practitioner of these principle of Universal love & co-existence had either comparatively lesser violence & wars, or they were mostly based on some higher principles of Dharma and such Righteousness & Justice: or in Self defence like that of the Ramayana & Mahabharata or they were of personal nature as fought personally only by the great Jaina Warrior King turned Ascetic BAHUBALI (whose world high statue at Sravanabelagola is renuniscene of his might & greatness) with his brother King Bharata. This unique war of Bahubali provides wonderful example of the supremacy of Indian culture full of sacrifice - in which the war is taken from outside to inside from material to one's own spiritual war within one's own self to fight the forces and enemies of Anger, Passion, Greed, Delusion, Hatred, Attachness etc - this spirit of WAR WITHIN adopted by this great Hero - Bahubali, the son of First Jain Tirthankar RISHADHADEVA - the father of World Culture ADINATH - DADA-ADAM accepted by ALL- JAINS, HINDUS, MUSLIMS, CHRISTIANS - and through him the whole chain of 24 JAIN TIRTHANKARAS & their ardent followers upto BH. MAHAVIRA, just the contemporary of BUDDHA 2,500 years back. Again those were the days of FRONT WARS Being/fought between the Brave soldiers & Armies only and not with the innocent public. However, all of them were also not pardonable in the Human History. After all wars were wars full of violence & were to be condemned for ever. While today with the changed times, the Wars developing into huge Nuclear weapons are clearly not being fought between the Armies & Soldiers only, on the contrary they are going to be disastrous for the people and peace-craving humanity and as such VIOLENCE, WEAPONS & WARS have become the major problems of the humanity, which deserve and need early and immediate dissolution without even a day's delay. The clue or alternative of it lies only in the JAINA philosophy of Anekantavada, Live & Let Live, Hindu Philosophy of & GANDHIAN - practicality of its practiced & pious selection of Non-violence, which has been very rightly interpreted & defined by Gandhi's spiritual Heir Acharya Vinoba Bhave saying: - SCIENCE + NON-VIOLENCE = SARVODAYA or RISE & WELFARE OF ALL. SCIENCE - NON-VIOLENCE = DISASTER OF ALL.

(1973 SAMVATSARI PRATIKRAMANA - FROM THE EYES OF AN AMERICAN JAIN YOUTH 1. Why should we do it? As household people, we do many sins, knowingly or unknowingly, physically or mentally, every now and then. Once a year, in this ritual, we remind ourselves of how we should be living and what we should be doing. For all the hurting to others, we seek forgiveness through repentance. We say "MICHCHHAMI DUDDKADAM", to mean it. 2. How should we do it? We sit completely still, like a Muni. We should not move any part of the body. We try to avoid speaking, looking around, yawning, even deep breathing, coughing, sneezing or burping so that no part of our body moves. The idea is that for an hour or so we practice the type of the same high quality that the Munis do for years. This reminds to ourselves that soul is separate from the body. The special word for this act is called "KAYOTSARGA". 3. What do the words in it mean? We recite names of all the 24 Tirthankars, who have demonstrated in their own lives how to achieve the highest qualities expected from a Jain "AHIMSA PARAMO DHARMA" - means that non-violence is most important. We recognize that even in the smallest insects, invisible without a microscope, have a soul. They have equal desires and rights for living happily. We should not kill them; we should not even hurt them. However, if we did do any harm to them, then they progressively move on to larger ones, such as ants, worms, and larger animals. When we walk, we should keep our eyes on earth so that we can spot small insects. Whenever we see them, we should walk away from them in order to avoid stepping over them. Then we remind ourselves of the other principles. We should not say iies. We should not take anything without the owner's permission. We should not think of sex. We should not get greedy. We should not hoard money, grains, etc.. We should not cheat others. We should not love money, materials. We should not hate anyone. We should not argue. We should not argue. We should not put blame on others. We should not speak bad things about other people. We should not get glad or sad under favourable or unfavourable circumstances. We should not follow wrong God, preacher of religion. Then we remind ourselves of the importance of paying special respect to the Guru, or the teacher. We serve him. We listen to him. We speak to him softly. We should not argue with him or interrupt him. We should not sit at a place equal to or higher than his, nor should we touch his seat with our legs. "Samvatsari" means annual, or once a year. We seek forgiveness for all of the above sins. If we are true in our heart, we should get it. GLIMPSES OF BHAGAWAN MAHAVEER'S GLORIOUS LIFE AND IMPORTANCE OF HIS BIRTH CELEBRATIONS: "JANMA KALYANAKA" (14) Birth of a TIRTHANKARA (Bhagawan Mahaveer was 24th in preset Circle of time) brings welfare, peace, prosperity, happiness and harmony to not only the human beings, but to the entire Universal and Cosmic beings. This is because of his infinite powers and his longing to provide these all to each and every peace and happiness-carving being. How this happens? The Infinite Powers vested in a THIRTHANKARA are the accumulated results of his virtuious deeds AUSPICIOUS KARMAS of several of his previous births. Through the strivings and contemplations and Meditations of these chain series of Births ultimately resulting in his acquirement of perfect knowledge KEVAL JNANA and Infinite Powers to uplift the suffering beings of the Universe. Thus the birth of a Tirthankara is called a KALYANAKA, which provides upliftment, welfare, happiness to all. Today, it is about 2696th JANMA KALYANAKA of Bhagawan Mahaveer, who was born in 598 B.C. at Kshatriyakundagram, Vaishali, Bihar. Due to above-referred Previous Birth's accumulated Contemplatic and seekings, as for all Tirthankaras, Mahaveer was also born from his very birth with the possession of three kinds of faculties of KNOWLEDGE, called Mati jnana, Shruta Jnana and Avadhi Jnana. There being FIVE types of such JNANAS, he acquired the rest two MANAH PARYAV and KEVALA JNANA later on during his FINAL seekings and Meditations. Because of these inborn knowledge-possession, he was very very high intellectually from his childhood. Similarly, he was extraordinarily BRAVE and FEARLESS from his early life. Episodes of Ferrocious Cobra and Mad Elephant's controlling by him are a few of examples. As a prince he remained in his kingly Palace until the passing away of his parents, whom he respected and served beyond an average person to set an example of parent worship, there after he respected his elder brother's wishes and then renounced the world by distributing and donating everything EXCEPT A LION PIECE OF CLOTH to the have nots and went alone in Forests in Seclusion and Meditations. After twelve and a half years of rigorous and thrilling seekings he acquired KEVAL JNANA at the age of 42 and there after for 30 years he went on preaching his TRUTHS. Such a Rishabhadeva's sublime life-order (called) RISHABHANUSHASANA, was followed and taught through his sacred, elevating Life Sciences mentioned hereabove, along with marriage procedures and sacred code of conduct, throughout the Ages that followed after Rishabhanushasana are of Pious ladies following the paths of their husbands like Rajimati-Rajul following Renunciation-path in the footsteps of her husband Nemkumar (Tirthankar Nemnatha), Sati Sita following Lord Rama in forests, Damayanti following Nala, Maina Sundari etc. Apart from these there are examples of observing Celebacy in Householder's life like Vijaya Sheth-Vijaya Shethani, just as Jai Prakash narayan Prabhavati Devi in modern Gandhian Age. These sublime Celebacy examples lead to one's, the Couple's Self Realization even in householder's lives. On the other hand these are extremely inspiring examples of Dhanna-Shalibhadra, etc. leaving and renouncing enormous sensual enjoyments and wives. These are all ideals of Aryan-Jain Marital lives.
